Taj Mahal: Called "A tear on the face of eternity" by Rabindranath Tagore, Taj Mahal is one of the Seven wonders of the world. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his dead wife Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. It is believed that its architectural beauty has never been surpassed.
Agra Fort: Also known as Lal Qila, Agra fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Agra. About 2.5 kms from Taj Mahal, it was as much as a royal residence as a military strategic point. The fort contains splendid palaces, both in red sandstone and white marble, built by two generations of prolific builders Akbar and later Jehangir and Shahjahan.
Fatehpur Sikri: Built in the 16th century, .Fatehpur Sikri is one of the finest examples of Mughal architectural splendour at its height. Built between 1569 and 1585, this city was intended to be the joint capital with Agra, but was soon deserted because the water system could not support any residents. It has remained untouched for over 400 years now and is considered to be the best example of the culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture.
